Prior to starting occupational therapy services, your first appointment will entail an initial evaluation where the therapist will conduct a parent interview focusing on current concerns, strengths, and barriers, will administer standardized assessments if applicable, conduct clinical observations and overall, get to know you and your child and understand your goals for therapy. This evaluation can take an estimate of 45-90 minutes.
If you have had an occupational therapy evaluation conducted within the past year, if you provide a copy the therapist can review and make a decision if an additional evaluation is needed or if a treatment plan can be made from the previous evaluation.

Each child has an individualized treatment plan catered to their current needs, working on building of strengths and adapting and persisting through challenges. Goals will be discussed with family to ensure they align with their goals for therapy. We aim to structure sessions to best align with their treatment plan and encourage parent involvement as much as possible to support home carryover outside of sessions.
